Blome Vitrified Tiling Systems utilize precision industrial
ceramic tile plus the most advanced chemically resistant setting,
grouting materials to achieve outstanding performance and excellent
aesthetics for food, dairy, pharmaceutical, and chemical process
plant flooring. Fully vitrified tile offers precision tolerance and
a broad range of colors, shapes, and textures resulting in floors
that are virtually smooth and without high joints.
Fully
vitrified ceramic tile is installed by the direct bond method, using
a high performance Epoxy or Novolac Epoxy Setting Bed. Blome CP-36
Epoxy Setting Bed exhibits excellent adhesion with good resistance
to a broad range of acids and alkalis. Blome CP-96 Novolac Epoxy
Setting Bed is better suited for harsh chemical service or areas
exposed to higher temperatures and thermal shock.

The appropriate setting bed is installed with full surface contact
to tile and substrate. Tile are placed into wet setting bed and
spaced to achieve desired joint width. Tile can be laid tight by
using spacer lugs on tile edges or can be set to
3/16” or ¼”
joints. Setting Bed should be allowed to cure overnight before
proceeding with grouting procedure.
The selection of the appropriate grouting material is based on
anticipated chemical exposure, temperature extremes, cleaning cycles
and solutions. Blome International supplies a broad range of
chemically resistant grouts including Water Washable Epoxy, Novolac
Epoxy, Vinyl Ester and Furan. If Blome CP-38 or CP-39 Water
Washable Epoxy Grouts are used, the tile should be cleaned with
water and sand after grouting, using pads or a buffing wheel. If
Blome Novolac, Vinyl Ester or Furan Grouts are used, tile faces
should be pre-waxed prior to installation and the floor
steamed-cleaned after grout reaches full cure. Steam cleaning
removes wax and residual grout from tile surfaces.
Blome
International also supplies a complete line of Expansion Joint
Compounds. These include Flexible Epoxy, Polysulfide and
Polyurethane Elastomers. The selection of the appropriate
joint compound is based on chemical exposure and physical
requirements. In high traffic areas the more rigid, flexible
epoxies are typically specified. In most other areas
Polysulfide or Polyurethane sealants are preferred.
For maximum
adhesion, we recommend that expansion joints be primed prior to
installation, using the appropriate epoxy primer.

International supplies a complete line of setting and grouting
